Mary Charles has been a professional artist over thirty years, using a variety of media, including polymer, metal, oils, pen-and-ink, watercolor, and mixed media. She grew up in Eastern Tennessee surrounded by animals and nature – and always drawing. She has fine arts degrees from University of Tennessee and Sullins College in Virginia. With marriage, she migrated to an acreage in South Carolina where she lives with her husband, son, and a plethora of animals. She has participated and placed in juried and international art competitions throughout the United States. For the past nine years, she has done commission work, primarily portraits of beloved pets, almost exclusively.

All sculptures and jewelry offered by Fieldmouse Studio are hand-made one-of-a-kind pieces. Currently all pieces are made from polymer clay, a PVC resin that can be modeled like natural clay and cured in a small oven at relatively low temperatures. The polymer is waterproof and fade-resistant. While durable it is not unbreakable, so jewelry items should be stored with care.
